Project Description:

 

This is a LEED® Certified Level project that involves a six-story addition to the Duke University Business School. The building was comprised of high-tech classrooms and offices, and a two-story library.  It featured meeting and lecture rooms with integrated audio/visual systems, and complex architectural features.

 

The project commissioned systems included:

 

• Siemens Building Automation System integrated into campus networked control system.
• Central air handling units with DDC variable air volume reheat air terminal units.
• Demand control ventilation via CO₂ sensors
• Steam to heating hot water heat exchangers for heating and domestic water.
• Pressure-powered condensate return system.
• Variable frequency chilled water and heating hot water.
• Lighting controls based on occupancy sensors and dimmers.
• Emergency power (new generator and transfer switches)
• Fire Alarm and Fire Protection systems.
• Atrium Smoke Control system.
• Telecommunications

 

System WorCx Scope of Work:

 

System WorCx was hired as a third-party commissioning firm contracted directly to Duke University during design development. Michael Mantai was the commissioning authority performing all commissioning activities (design reviews, Cx plan, field testing, troubleshooting, etc.).
