Project Description:

The Center for Athletic Excellence is a first-class athletics complex designed to inspire, enhance and celebrate Duke University's student-athletes in all 26 intercollegiate sports.

The center will contain three vital components, all different in their use, but all three providing Duke's student-athletes and the entire University community with a superior mental and physical training and preparation facility.

JACK CAMPBELL ACADEMIC SUPPORT CENTER

The first area, serving as the gateway to Duke athletics campus and facing Wallace Wade Stadium, will be the Jack Campbell Academic Support Center. The key area will serve as the home to over 600 student-athletes and their pursuit of academic excellence.  The support center will nearly double the existing space to expand tutoring, computer resources, one-on-one counseling and ample team studying space.

UNIVERSITY EVENTS CENTER

On the side facing the sparkling new David Rubenstein Center on Duke's west campus will be a large gathering space, the University Events Center.  This banquet space for up to 300 people will be one of the most unique areas on all of Duke's campus, providing easy access to historic Cameron Indoor Stadium and a second-level view into the basketball training gymnasium.  This space will quickly become Duke's premier banquet space and will also be an area to celebrate Duke's vast athletic tradition.

BASKETBALL TRAINING FACILITIES

The centerpiece of the facility will be two full sized basketball courts to enhance year-round training for the Duke men's and women's basketball teams.  The gem of the basketball training facility will be a world class weight and conditioning room, a state-of-the-art team and individual video viewing complex and new academic resources space. Also included in the basketball training facility will be a Legacy Locker Room, an area for Duke's past players to call home for their offseason  professional basketball training.  It will link Duke's past with the present in a private access training area to keep Cameron Indoor Stadium a year-round tourist and visitor destination point as well as keeping the arena open for large University gatherings as well as intercollegiate basketball, volleyball and wrestling competitions.
